Pastor Edison and four CMI workers reach out into the slums of Gandhidham, a city in central Gujarat. CMI's outreach to this area began after the 2002 earthquake that brought such devistation to the area. CMI relief workers ministered the love of Christ to the people in the midst of this trajedy. They reported back that the needs were great. Pastor Edison and his wife responded to the call and moved to Gujarat shortly after. They have established two Children's Centers and small fellowships in the Gandhidham Cargo and the Kodiyar Nagar slums. About 40 children and their families are ministered to each week.
CMI has partnered with the Friends Missionary Prayer Band, an indigenous missionary group working in Gujarat for about 25 years. FMPB has Christian Boarding schools for poor children. Through CMI's monthly sponsorship program poor tribal children have access to quality education and an opportunity to hear the gospel on a daily basis.
